This was my second collection of original poems about invented creatures, similar to the poems in THE SNOPP ON THE SIDEWALK. It was my first collaboration with James Stevenson, who later illustrated THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK and four subsequent books. It was published by Greenwillow Books in 1982.
For this collection, I combined animals with ordinary objects to create BALLPOINT PENGUINS, SHOEHORNETS, and a CLOCKTOPUS, among others. I’ve recorded these poems with the San Diego Symphony playing marvelous music by the composer Lucas Richman. The book was published by Greeenwillow Books in 2006.
